Infectious Mononucleosis, slang named "mono" or the "kissing disease", is an illness cause by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) which is a member of the Herpes family. It is a dangerous illness often contracted by party-going teens and adolescents. It could possibly leave you out of commission for minimal of one week, but up to a month or two. EBV can be found in almost every part of the world and in fact by adulthood, 90%-95% of men and women have been infected with the virus, with infection most often occurring in people 5-25 years of age.
